The homework assignment for each night is to read for at last 15 minutes. I encourage you to read to your child, as well as have your child read to you and read independently. Weekly spelling words are assigned on Monday and tested on Friday. Beginning in the second semester, students will have additional homework assignments in other subjects.
Students should have their homework folder in their backpacks every single night including Friday. Check all papers that are inside it. Many important notices are sent home and that is where I will place private messages to you. Please remove graded papers. Your child's folder should come back to school on Mondays empty except for notes or lunch money. Be sure that your child places the folder in his backpack each day as an independent responsibility. I never accept the words, "My mom forgot it."
