HOW DOES VISUAL LITERACY LOOK in an EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT?
In a society where we’re learning more than half of what we know from visual information, it’s important to teach ourselves & students how to view visual data critically. We need to learn how to look beyond the surface & understand deeper levels of meaning in visual images. As you read these articles, hopefully, they will give you a new way of thinking about the way we (adults & children) receive & present visual information.
- What does a visually literacy teacher, leader, or presenter need to believe?
- If I’m going to teach the way this generation learns, how can it be done?
- How would a visually enhanced environment or product look?

Have you ever felt that your Power Point slides are too wordy or that they don't engage or impact the students?
Do you find yourself preparing your presentations as though they were your NOTES?!
Is this the way you want the presentation to look?!
Learn how you can prepare slides that stand out & give the students the visual impact that will enable them to not only become engaged, but better understand the message.
This presentation is compliments of one of MSDLT's teachers, Robert Smelser, from Harrison Hill School of Inquiry. He designed it to give you (and others) points to consider when designing your next presentation.
"If you follow these guiding principles, you may find yourself creating presentations that more deeply engage & enchant your audience." stated Robert in his presentation packet.
Be sure to look at thePower Point presentation and ask yourself: How can I explicitly embed, model, & teach my students good presentation skills?
